Dear Constituent,

Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 1866, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009. I appreciate the opportunity to respond to your concerns.

On April 2, 2009, Congressman Ron Paul introduced H.R. 1866. This legislation would amend the Controlled Substances Act to exclude industrial hemp from the definition of marihuana. Furthermore, the bill would give States the power to regulate the growing and processing of industrial hemp. Currently, this measure is being considered by the House Committees on Energy and Commerce and Judiciary.

I will keep your thoughts in mind should H.R. 1866 come before the House of Representatives for a vote. Again, thank you for contacting me. I look forward to hearing from you in the future.

Sincere regards,

Roy Blunt
Member of Congress
