Vote Hemp filed a Freedom of Information (FOIA) request with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) requesting documents relating to hemp and the DEA interpretive rule that banned hemp foods containing “any THC”. DEA did locate information related to the FOIA request but refused to provide it as required under the law. Vote Hemp sued DEA in the D.C. Circuit Court and the case was heard before Judge Reggie Walton. Vote Hemp ultimately prevailed and DEA was required to provide several boxes of relevant materials.
