Dear Constituent,

Thank you for contacting me regarding industrial hemp farming.

As you may know, Senator Ron Wyden introduced an amendment to the 2012 Farm Bill addressing hemp farming.  The Senate majority did not schedule the amendment for a vote and it was not included in the Senate passed Farm Bill.

While I support a comprehensive agriculture policy including alternative crops, I have concerns that legalization of industrial hemp could have unintended consequences.  We must ensure that legalization of industrial hemp would not hamper the ability of law enforcement agencies to enforce our drug laws effectively.

Again, thank you for contacting me. I look forward to continuing our conversation on Facebook ( www.facebook.com/SenatorBlunt ) and Twitter ( www.twitter.com/RoyBlunt ) about the important issues facing Missouri and the country.  I also encourage you to visit my website ( blunt.senate.gov ) to learn more about where I stand on the issues and sign-up for my e -newsletter .

Sincere regards,

Roy Blunt
United States Senator
