Dear Constituent,

Thank you for contacting me with your support for hemp. I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with me on this issue.

Although growing hemp in the United States has been illegal since 1937, there are a number of useful products that could be produced more abundantly in the United States if this law was repealed, including paper products, clothing, foods, and body lotions. That's why, in the last Congress, I was an original cosponsor of H.R. 1866, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act, which would have allowed the growth of hemp for industrial products in the United States. H.R. 1866 was been referred to the House Committee on the Judiciary. Be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind as I continue to work to reform our nation's drug enforcement laws.

Again, it's good to hear from you. The people of Marin and Sonoma counties are the most important voices I listen to as I work in Congress.

Sincerely,

Lynn Woolsey
Member of Congress
