Dear Constituent,

Thank you for contacting me regarding industrial hemp. I appreciate your taking the time to share your views on this issue.

There is interest in Congress considering amending our laws to distinguish between industrial hemp and marijuana varieties of cannabis as they relate to production, possession, delivery, and intended use. H.R. 1866, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act, seeks to do just this, and I am pleased to inform you that I am cosponsor of this legislation. This legislation amends the Controlled Substances Act to exclude hemp from the definition of marijuana, thereby allowing the production of hemp that meets concentration limits.

Thank you again for taking the time to contact me.

Sincerely,

Earl Blumenauer
Member of Congress
