Dear Constituent,

I want to thank you for taking the time to contact me about H.R. 1866, the Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2009. I appreciate hearing from you on this important issue.

H.R. 1866 would amend the Controlled Substances Act to exclude industrial hemp from the definition of marijuana. The bill has been referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Committee on the Judiciary's Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security for further consideration. Rest assured that I will keep your views in mind should this bill come before the full U.S. House of Representatives for a vote.

Once again, thank you for contacting me about this important issue, and please do not hesitate to contact me again in the future about this or any other issue.

Sincerely,

Jim McGovern
Member of Congress
