Dear Constituent,

Thank you for contacting me in regards to the Industrial Hemp Farming Act. I appreciate you taking the time to share your views.

As you know, since 1970, when hemp was included in the definition of marijuana, the United States has prohibited farmers from participating in the international hemp market.

While legislation to remove hemp from the marijuana definition has been offered in previous Congresses, there is currently no legislation before the House of Representatives. Please be assured that I will be sure to keep your views in mind should this issue come before the House.

Again, thank you for contacting me. Please feel free to visit my website at www.chrislee.house.gov to sign up for email newsletter updates on issues that are important to you.

Sincerely,

CHRISTOPHER J. LEE
Member of Congress
