Industrial hemp is important to the future of farming in the U.S. and will lead to sustainable products and provide an important food source for our nation. In order to get American farmers growing hemp commercially once again, we need to remove it from the Controlled Substances Act (CSA) by passing legislation similar to the Industrial Hemp Farming Act of 2015, S. 134 & H.R. 525. Only when industrial hemp is removed from the CSA will our U.S. agriculture and associated processing, manufacturing, distribution and retail industries have an opportunity to develop infrastructure for this valuable crop.
We call on U.S. Senators to introduce and pass legislation that will allow state regulated commercial hemp farming without interference or oversight from the DEA. Please sign this petition today, and also please share this petition with others.
I support legislation to remove industrial hemp from the Controlled Substance Act and allow states to regulate hemp farming once again without DEA interference. It is time to restore hemp as an agricultural commodity in the United States. More than $680 million dollars worth of imported hemp products are sold legally in the U.S. each year, and American farmers are losing out on the economic benefit. It's time for this senseless prohibition of industrial hemp to end.
